Ally

Barber / Co-Founder

I’ve been cutting hair for over 10 years now, and opened The Tin Can Barbers with Dan to create a space that felt a little different — calm, green, down-to-earth, and rooted in the community. I’m into postmodern cuts, skinhead styles, mod cuts and mullets — basically anything with a bit of subcultural flair. That said, I’m all about making haircuts last, so whether it’s a sharp skin fade or a textured scissor cut, it’s got to grow out well and still look good.

Outside the shop, you’ll usually find me skating, chasing after my daughter, making music, or trying to get plants to grow in places they probably shouldn’t. My chair’s a space to feel comfortable, chat if you fancy it, or just enjoy a bit of peace while I focus on the details. Please never expect me to be running on time.

Dan

Barber / Co-Founder

I’ve been in the hair industry for 20 years, starting out as a hairdresser before moving into barbering to master both sides of the craft. I’m now proud to be co-owner of Tin Can Barbershop, where I bring that experience to every cut. I love working with curly hair, longer styles like mullets, and a clean, tight fade.

I’m a pretty chilled, quiet worker—though depending on the day, the playlist, or how much sleep the kids let me have, I might be full ADHD and chatty as hell. Outside the shop, I’m all about family time, catching live Stoner Doom metal gigs, baking sourdough bread, cracking a few beers, and watching movies.

CJ

BARBER / ARTIST / FRIEND

“Fresh on the Brighton scene, I’m stoked to get to know this lively city and add to the vibe here at Tin Can! With around 5 years of barbering experience, I’ve developed an approach that keeps clients feeling comfortable, confident, and cared for.

Whether you’re after a fresh fade or clean scissor work, I’m always learning more about my craft and tailoring every cut to suit you personally. I love creating art and connecting with people, so coming to work is always exciting. Outside the shop you’ll find me on the beach, exploring new places, or working on my latest dad joke to keep you entertained.

Grace

Barber / Listener / Hero

Hey, I’m Grace (They/Them) — I’ve been working with hair for 5 years, crafting cuts with character and intention. My style blends queer, alternative edge with modern flair and timeless classics. I’m all about mod cuts, mullets, longer styles, and anything that breaks the mold and makes you feel like you.

My chair is a safe space for all — no judgment, just good hair and good vibes. Want to talk about life, music, or your weird dream from last night? I’m down. Prefer silence and a moment to chill? That works too. When I’m not cutting hair, you’ll find me outside soaking up nature, paddleboarding, chasing the perfect coffee, or hanging with my dog. Come exactly as you are — leave feeling even more like yourself.😊

Shawn

Barber / Traveller / Immigrant

I’m Shawn, and I’m buzzing to be the newest face at Tin Can Barbers. I’ve been cutting hair for over 10 years (mostly back home in Canada). I ran my own shop and built a tight-knit community where everyone felt like family, but eventually the travel bug won and Brighton’s energy pulled me in. It felt like the perfect place to start fresh and build something new.

I’m an open book, so come hang out and we’ll chat while I get your hair looking sharp. I’m all about learning new things, good vibes, and making the most out of life, and I bring that same upbeat energy into every cut. Can’t wait to meet you and get you feeling fresh.
